Radoslav Bogoev, a representative of the organization took part in the Round Table "Science and journalism: together against the infodemic".
The event took place on October 20 in the city of Plovdiv. The Association of European Journalists in Bulgaria, together with its partners, presented the results of its two-year project "Science and Journalism: Together Against the Infodemic", dedicated to strategies for dealing with the infodemic.
As part of the initiative, about 100 journalists and representatives of academic circles took part in the series of fact-checking trainings and online lectures, which took place in Sofia, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad and Stara Zagora.
During this period, 75 articles were also published on the Factcheck.bg. This is a fact-checking platform, which exposes manipulative or false data about phenomena from the world of science. From the ins and outs of scientific fact-checking, through the joint efforts of journalists and scientists against disinformation, to tips for covering extreme climate events and a podcast that unravels the psychology of manipulation, these topics were all part of the round table.
It is very important to build a closer connection between the journalistic and academic circles in order to avoid misinformation in the media on matters related to the scientific sphere. This project is a huge step in this direction and we at CEGE believe that with initiatives like this, the future of quality journalism in Bulgaria is in good hands.
